How do you see home entertainment in the present day?

Gone are the days when operas, theatrical plays, and circus events were the most popular forms of entertainment. With the evolution and rapid development of technology nowadays, entertainment is now on its interactive form.

Kids and adults alike find themselves enjoying the benefits of technology, especially on the entertainment industry. Animated and digital films as well as high-technology gadgets replaced traditional forms of entertainment. The impact of technology to the entertainment industry is evident such that it produced one of the most popular machinery of all time, especially to the younger generations of our society-the video game console.

A lot of the regular American families have invested for a gaming console that has provided entertainment mainly for the kids. The exciting and amusing storylines behind each console game and the animation options is considered to be one of the highly contributing elements to the success of a gaming console.

Having said this, it is not a coincidence that gaming consoles are now in their 7th generation that started at the last quarter of 2005 with the launch of Microsoft's Xbox 360. And thanks to the Big 3 of the industry of video gaming (Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony), gaming consoles have been revolutionized with new and more dynamic advancements being made.

PlayStation 3 is one of the parts of the 7th generation of game consoles which is announced to be launched in various dates in different countries across the globe. Basically, it was announced to be launched in Japan on November 11, 2006, November 17, 2006 in US and Canada, and March 2007 in European and Australian regions.

PS3, being the 3rd installment of Sony's line of PlayStation consoles, was officially made public on the E3 Conference on May 16, 2005. The launch came with two different packages, a premium and an alternative version of PS3. The premium PS3 console comes with multiple flash memory card reader, Wi-Fi connectivity and an internal 60 GB hard drive while its alternative version only has 20 GB hard drive that can be enhanced if the user wishes to. However, the Wi-Fi capabilities as well as the memory card reader cannot be added on.

With the data presented by PS3 press releases, there are video game consoles that have also launched a series of new games for the PS3:

* Madden NFL 2007;

* Full Auto 2: Battle Lines;

* Genji: Days of the Blade;

* College Hoops 2007;

* Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire;

* Need for Speed: Carbon;

* Ridge Racer 7;

* Sonic the Hedgehog;

* Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2007; and

* Tony Hawk's Project 8.

There are also title launches for other genres of PS3 games, such as for role playing (Final Fantasy XIII), action (Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots), racing (Gran Turismo HD), and fighting (Virtua Fighter 5). All of these games are scheduled to be released within the last quarter of 2006 and the first half of 2007.
