While many consumers picture a single gaming console, after hearing the word PlayStation, that name actually refers to a whole series, one designed for game-lovers. Sony Computer Entertainment created and developed that entire series, back in 1994. During that year the public witnessed the launching of a whole decade of new technology products, many of which were gaming devices. Others were controllers and home consoles.

The original game console was meant for home use and launched in the early 1990's, selling over 100 million units within the first ten years. Its follower, the PlayStation 2, produced over 150 million units by January of 2011. While the third system did not make as large of an initial impact, it has slowly picked up momentum. By the end of March 2012, the PlayStation 3 sold over 63 million units worldwide.

Sony has recognized the growing desire for access to technological devices that can be carried from place to place. That recognition has pushed the Company to come out with both the PSP and the PlayStation Vita. While the public responded well to such products, others, like the PSX and the Bravia failed to bring in a lot of sales. That fact has caused Sony's executives to focus more on perfecting the Company's more popular products.

Sony then hit the jackpot with their unique controller line which which allowed the vibrations on the screen to be felt in the handset. These were given the name "DualShock" of which over 28 million were sold. Gamers loved the thought of being more immersed into the action. This was a big leap forward in bringing the players more into the games.

The PlayStation Network gives players all over the world (69 million+) access to the PlayStation store, virtual markets and the premier services PlayStation Home & PlayStation Plus. With options to buy and download games it has now become much more convenient and time-saving than it ever has been.

After several hours of testing and reviewing and reading we have been able to come up with the top three games to be released in 2012. We will tell you that these are probably the most anticipated games to come out for Playstation 3. We are as enthralled as you for their release.

You know when we really got this down to size we decided there was no way we were going to be able to actually rank the top three. It is sort of like a 3 way tie for the first position. We just can't really say one of these is better than the other. What we can tell you is the list that follows are the top PS3 games of 2012:

The first game is Twisted Metal. This game is a much anticipated release of the popular car cobat game that everyone knows. This should be near the top of everyones list this year. The release was originally slated for 2011 but it was moved out. I think in our hearts we all know that the reason it was held up is to make it better. Everything is new from characters to the vehicles to the weapons and it should make a great comeback.

The second game on our list is the Final Fantasy 13 2. Obviously those who are into the RPG know that the original was a complete disaster and the company has promised to fix all of those shortcomings in this release. It is set 3 years after the original release, but we believe they have made due on their promise.

A more realistic and third version of Hitman is on the list now. These are awesome action games, but we were a little disappointed in the 2nd version as it rreally did punish those who just wanted to tear up stuff. This version is sure not to disappoint. More adhoc weapons than ever and a more realistic world are just a few of the features this game brings.
