It is a common misconception that games played around the world are something of a new thing. In actual fact though, many types of game-related artefacts have been discovered that date back to ancient times through archaeological excavations and the reading of old records. Indeed, many modern forms of this entertainment have their origins in ancient history.

Take the Royal Game of Ur, as an example, This game is still popular in the country of Iraq and appears to date back as far as the third century. In 1920, an archaeological dig discovered gaming equipment pertaining to this game which is believed to be the oldest set of its kind found in the entire world.

As time wore on, the traditional forms of entertainment were modified into different variations of their former selves. Entertainment of this type was growing ever more popular at the time of Jesus being born. Emperor Claudius is known to have played the game known as Tabula around this time for instance.

As the time wore on, the game of Tabula was evolved and modified. Indeed, it is believed that the modern equivalent of the game of Tabula is the popular game of Backgammon. It is fascinating to think that the game we enjoy playing so much today was equally enjoyed by our distant relatives too!

Strangely, this type of entertainment also seem to feature prominently in many historical events that took place in history around the globe. For example, the game of bowls on a green lawn has been played in the country of England for several centuries. Bowls appear to be significant in a story relating to the Elizabethan Naval Commander, Sir Frances Drake.

In English history, the 16th century was a turbulent time with England at war with neighboring Spain. In 1588, the Spanish intended to invade England by using their Spanish Armada. It is said that Sir Frances Drake said "We still have time to finish the game and thrash the Spaniards too", whilst playing bowls at Plymouth whilst the Spanish fleet was advancing on English shores.

On top of the traditional methods of keeping ourselves entertained, more popular nowadays are games of the video variety. Game playing consoles first originated in their simplest form in the 1950s and took off in the 1970s. Many of us will remember having a console when we were a child and playing the highly addictive tennis-like game! Now we have highly technical consoles which are evolving with each passing year.

No matter what form they take, games of all varieties are set to keep us entertained for many more centuries to come.

It seems that everyone today has a PSP. This is already the most popular portable gaming system by far, and its user base just continues to grow. In view of this, we decided it would be a useful thing to provide a short look at how to find free PSP game downloads.

Rather than buy new games, many choose to simply utilize PSP game downloads. Not only cheap but convenient (you can get new games while in your pajamas!), it's as simple as opening a web browser.

Alright, no more delays: Here are three options you can use to find free PSP downloads.

Option #1 - Free PSP Game Downloads

Here's what most people searching for free PSP downloads do - head over to Google and type in "free PSP game downloads" and hit search.

Does this actually work?

Sadly, nothing useful appears. While there will be sites offering "free PSP game downloads", there will always be a catch (or a few). Be wary of these sites.

For instance, on these rarely moderated sites there is a significant risk of getting infected files, viruses and spyware. Unscrupulous types take advantage of these unpoliced areas to upload bad files.

Adding insult to injury, the download speeds are very very slow on these sites. Without any real investment, server capacity and bandwidth suffer, and so will you if you try to get downloads from these sources.

One more problem that can leave you pulling your hair out - many of the games you download don't even work! There are all sorts of "corrupt" files on these sites which means you won't be able to use them at all.

Obviously, we're not going to recommend you use any of these sites. Approach them with great caution and at your own risk.

Option #2 - Finding Free PSP Downloads

Your second option is one that many people have tried after getting frustrated with the first.

There are membership-only websites offering PSP downloads. You can download whatever you want, whenever you want (including PSP games, of course), for a monthly fee, generally around $30.

We're going to leave this option at this, because there is an even better way to get those PSP downloads.

Option #3 - How To Find PSP Downloads

Last, but certainly not least, this is the best option to our way of thinking. This we can actually recommend to you for a PSP game downloads source.

There are PSP game download membership sites that offer unlimited downloads for a one-time only membership fee. Instead of having to pay each month, you are only billed once and can then download games or movies whenever you want for as long as you have your PSP.

This type membership runs about $35-$45 and gives you instant access. Any software that you need to transfer the files onto your PSP is included with your membership at no extra cost.

You'll find a link immediately following this article which will point you towards some of these sites, where you can learn more and even get a free trial membership. Setup is quick and easy with these; the very best of the best of PSP download sites.

These sites feature the latest and greatest games and fast downloads. These are for-profit firms behind these sites, and have an interest in serving their customers. Thusly, you'll find a lot more ease of use and amenities offered to visitors on these sites. No more infected or unplayable files.

As more and more people start to download PSP games we can only imagine that game sales will drop quite drastically at the stores. Using PSP game downloads is a far cheaper and more convenient way of keeping your PSP stocked with all the games and movies you want. Enjoy!

If you own a PSP chances are that you know that there is the ability to download movies, music and games to use on this awesome game system. This is one of the best ways to make sure you are never bored and have a stock of the newest games on your PSP. A question that is asked all the time is "How do I download games onto my PSP?"

There are a couple of options for this so let's take a closer look into it shall we?

It is quite likely that you will run across sites that will offer you free and unlimited downloads. You should beware of these sites. They may sound good at first but you should keep in mind that you get what you pay for. And well, since you won't be paying for anything then you are likely to get low quality downloads and not to mention the viruses and spyware that comes with them.

These websites do not make any money and because of this their downloads are provided by random people. The downloads are not official and many times end up being corrupt, or in other words they do not work right or at all. Downloads speeds are usually very slow and many times you will find that what you downloaded was not what it was supposed to be.

As you might have guessed, we can't recommend these websites to PSP users. They're risky and it's easy to waste a lot of time by using them.

The best way to download PSP games is to join a "membership" site that specializes in PSP downloads. You will have to pay a small fee, but it easily pays for itself after a download or two. By joining this type of website, you are dealing with a reputable business that invests money in making sure that all downloads work, are downloaded quickly and are guaranteed to be 100% virus and spyware free.

It always surprises me that there aren't more people using these websites. The cost of one of these sites is less than the price of one new game and your membership gives you access to unlimited PSP game downloads (along with movies, music, roms etc). The best sites will also provide you with the software you need to transfer the files to your PSP.

Try to avoid websites that charge monthly or "per-download" fees. Your best bet is to choose a website that only charges a one-time fee for a lifetime membership.

Downloading PSP games gives you a perfect way to find new games whenever you're in the mood to try something new. Not only will you always be able to find new games when you want to, but you will save a whackload of money at the same time. Enjoy!

If you're the lucky owner of a PSP there's a good chance you have heard about the ability to download games, movies and music and use them on your system. It's a great way to keep your PSP stocked with all the newest games and make sure you never get bored! One of the most common questions we get from PSP users is "How Do I Download PSP Games?"

You have a few options to download psp games - some are risky and others are not. Let's take a closer look at what I mean.

You will probably run across a few website that offer "free" PSP game downloads. However, the old saying "you get what you pay for" comes to mind here! Since you aren't paying a dime, these websites have all sorts of problems associated with them. In fact, several have been shut down in recent months for distributing viruses, spyware and other infections.

Since these websites don't pull in any profit, the files are usually just provided by random people on the internet. They aren't "official" game downloads and often end up being corrupt (meaning they don't work at all). The download speeds are incredibly slow and you will often find that what you download ends up being a completely different file than you searched for.

We here, as you may have guessed are not all that fond of these websites. You'd really be better off avoiding these sites entirely.

Membership sites are really your best bet for downloading PSP games. They are not free, but are typically not very expensive. These fees are more than offset by even a few downloads. These sites are run like a business, because they are businesses. They put some care into ensuring that the files hosted on their site are free of viruses and other threats, and are tested to make sure that they work.

It always surprises me that there aren't more people using these websites. The cost of one of these sites is less than the price of one new game and your membership gives you access to unlimited PSP game downloads (along with movies, music, roms etc). The best sites will also provide you with the software you need to transfer the files to your PSP.

The best values are the sites which just charge a one time fee for a lifetime membership. Somewhere between $30 and $50 will get you one of these memberships. Other sites have monthly fees, or even per-downloads, but these pale in comparison to being able to download any PSP game, movie or music file you want any time of day or night.

One of the best features of the PSP is the ability to download games, movies and music instead of having to but them at the stores. Not only will it save you a lot of money in the long-run, but you will als be sure your PSP is fully stocked with the newest games without ever having to make a trip to the store. Happy gaming!

There are many uses for your nice PS3 besides playing games. You can connect to the Playstation Network and have access to a variety of free PS3 downloads. There's something for everyone on this network. Plus it's free so you can't really complain.

Sony scored big points with gamers by making the PSN free to everyone, obviously the stuff you buy from it requires money but that's to be expected. Most updates and other game related files come from this location. You can get any kind of media you can imagine here. Plus download games for the Playstation Portable.

This can unlock a few things for games on the PSP but mainly it allows you to load it with some games. The Playstation network has what they call PS1 classics. There are the classic games we played when the original Playstation was at the height of its glory. These can be put on the PSP and taken on the road.

As you can see this is a neat thing to do. Everyone loves to be able to take games with them. But in addition to this you can also play the classics on the PS3 console. In addition to that you can also store music on it and make it an mp3 player until you get the money to buy some games. The games themselves are getting kind of cheap now so you will be able to grab a few eventually.

Registering with the PSN is a breeze. Once this is done you have access to the network and can stay in contact with friends. Updates are performed quite frequently so do not be alarmed if it looks different next time you log on. Nice little service for being free isn't it?

If you have any games that support downloadable content then you'll be able to update them here. Every next gen console can connect to the internet and developers have taken advantage of this. You will be able to find maps and patches via the PSN and apply them without hassle. In case you don't know what patches are they are small pieces of programming released by the developers to fix bugs in games.

In closing you don't have to look far to find free PS3 downloads. Just connect to the network find something you want and you are on your way. It can be kind of easy to lose some time browsing it as the amount of media they have on the network is huge. Happy gaming and remember just because a game is old doesn't mean it isn't worth playing.
