The PS3 red light is kind of a upsetting problem. So what can you do to mend the PS3 flashing red light, quickly? Well firstly I would try turning it on and off again. Unfortunately , if that does not work, you can try the things below.

There are a couple of things other items that may cause this problem :

1) Overheating - If you are playing your PS3 and suddenly it cuts off and has a flashing Red light then it has possibly overheated. To solve this leave it in a well ventilated area for approximately 20 mins then. Try it again.

Tip: You should generally play your PS3 in a well ventilated area on a smooth, hard surface so that its cooling system works effectively . Never play it on a carpet because that can trap heat and block the PS3's vents!

2) HDD problem- The Flashing red light might be due to a problem with the hard disk. Try removing the hard disk ( the instructions are in the user's manual ) and placing it back in.

3) Some other and more seriously hardware problem- If this is the case your PS3 will need repairs. So as to do this you can do two things : send it to Sony, or Fix your PS3 yourself.

If you send your PS3 to Sony then you will be charged around $150 ( Unless it still is under warranty ). Also you'll have to wait 4-6 weeks to get your PS3 back...or they may give you a refurbished unit instead. If your PS3 is still under guaranty I would recommend this option because if you open the case of the PS3 then you'll void your warranty.

For those unlucky enough to get this problem after their guaranty has expired then you might want to get a good PS3 repair guide and fix the PS3 flashing red light yourself. If you're interested in doing this look for a guide that offers safe mend strategies, step by step instructions with photographs and videos to help understand what to do, and some kind of support so that you can ask for help if you get stuck.
